Meet Our Urgent Care Providers
James Berking, PA-C received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology from University of Vermont in 2012 and a Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2017 from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). James’ passion for medicine was sparked when he was younger working as a backcountry canoeing guide in Canada. As part of his training he was introduced to wilderness medicine and swiftwater rescue.This experience prompted him to further his medical education and become a PA. He thrives that the challenges in medicine are extremely diverse and ever-changing. When James is not in the clinic he loves adventure sports like whitewater rafting and surfing.
Sally Breen, DNP has her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis. She was inspired to enter the medical field when her young daughter was hospitalized for a week and she observed the doctors and nurses taking care of her. After that experience, she registered for nursing school and has continued that path. Sally loves to bake, crochet and travel in her free time. Her favorite places she has visited have been Tasmania and Papua New Guinea.
Chelsea Burchette PA-C first degree was in Athletic Training from the University of Nevada. She then received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Washington. Chelsea was drawn to medicine because she was fascinated with the human physical body and has a natural enthusiasm for helping others. Her commitment to helping others extends beyond her work, as she also volunteers with the Special Olympics and runs First Aid tents at events for Southern Oregon University and Grants Pass High School. In her free time, she enjoys engaging in a variety of hobbies including hiking, cycling, gardening, and crafts.
Gregory Caldwell, PA-C has been a PA for 21 years and graduated with his degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Riverside Community College in Moreno Valley California. He chose medicine because he wanted to serve others and he felt it was such a personal way of giving of himself and of his time. In his spare time, Greg loves being with his wife and kids, hiking, mountain biking, and going to school activities. He also enjoys being in the ocean, exploring creeks, lakes and waterfalls.
Cullen Mack, PA-C attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Cullen then obtained a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2016. He discovered his true desire was to be in the healthcare field after working in the service industries for many years, yet wanting to be able to give back to people in a greater capacity. In his spare time, Cullen enjoys spending time with his wife and child. They love an active lifestyle which includes hiking, rock climbing, camping, backpacking and skiing.
Kelsey Fyfe, FNP received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University. She then completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Nursing from Oregon Health and Science University graduating with honors. Kelsey is passionate about women’s health, preventative medicine, and geriatric care. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys running, skiing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones.
Erica Lingafelter, FNP earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Northwest Nazarene University. Before receiving her Master’s Degree, Erica was a combat medic for the US Army for 4 years, serving part of the time in Baghdad, Iraq. She loves the medical field because you never see the same thing twice and the bond she is able to build with each patient. Erica is passionate about making sure sensitive populations, especially veterans, get the care they need. When not with patients, she spends time with her family in nature hiking, biking or going to the lake.
Mona McArdle, MD received her Bachelor degree in Biology from the University of Utah and then graduated with a M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. McArdle completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. She is board certified by the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She has lived and worked in the Rogue Valley for 21 years and is currently Valley Immediate Care’s Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer. Dr. McArdle always had a love of science, nature and finding out the “why” behind things. She was originally drawn to the medical field as a researcher, wanting to learn and discover new things. Yet she deeply enjoyed human interaction on all levels, being able to ease a patient’s fears or help guide a patient through difficult times, which led her to switch from research to patient care. When she is not working, Dr. McArdle enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, rafting, camping. She also likes traveling to new places.
Maria Miller M.D. graduated with her medical degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1989, where she also completed her residency in family medicine. She serves the residents of the Rogue Valley with decades of experience. Dr. Miller is a Department of Transportation Certified Medical Examiner, and a designated U.S Civil Surgeon. Her passions for both service and science led her to pursue medicine. When she is not at work, she enjoys the outdoors, hiking, gardening and volunteering her time with the Ashland Emergency Food Bank.
Megan Schweizer, FNP graduated form the University of California San Francisco as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005. She then obtained her Master’s in Public Health from the University of California Berkeley, in 2007. She became interested in health and medicine during her Peace Corps service in Mali, West Africa. In her spare time, Megan loves spending time with her family by exploring the outdoors. She enjoys camping, running, hiking, biking with them.
Dan Thornley, PA-C graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Brigham Young University Idaho in 2017. Dan then went on to received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was deeply inspired to pursue the field of medicine by the doctors who treated his mother during her battle with cancer and his father’s compassionate service as a volunteer EMS crew member. In his free time, Dan enjoys fishing the Rogue River, hunting deer and elk, participating in archery competitions, and exploring nature with his wife. He also gives back to his community by helping elderly residents with household duties and leading a young men’s group at his church.
Krista Washburn, PA-C graduated from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago Illinois in 2015. She moved to the Rogue Valley in the summer of 2021. She has always known she wanted to work in medicine. She was drawn to helping others and she loves the challenge of learning and practicing medicine with the constant changes. In her free time, Krista enjoys gardening, reading, spending time with her husband & children, and attending services at her church. She also volunteers in the community through teaching and leading youth groups in her church and supporting homeless & foster care programs,
Kadin Wiley, PA-C got his bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology & Spanish from the University of Oregon and his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pacific University. He has had the opportunity to work in clinics in remote areas of Northern Panama, where he got to hone his Spanish medical terminology. His favorite part of working in the healthcare field is interacting with great people. When he is not seeing patients in clinics, Kadin likes being active outdoors and seeing new places. You will find Kadin biking, climbing or swimming during his days off.
Jeff Williams, MD received his Medical Degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 1983, with his internship at University of Kentucky. He spent the next six years on active duty with the Navy and then completed an Emergency Medicine residency at OHSU in 1993. He has spent the next 30 years as an ER physician, physician at the White City VA, Navy officer, both on reserve and active duty and as an owner physician with Valley Immediate Care. He and his wife have raised their three children here in the Rogue Valley, actively participating in community and church activities. In his free time, Jeff dreams of long walks on the beach and ignoring his phone whenever possible.
Evan Xanthos, PA-C received his Master’s of Anatomy from Wright State University in 2013, followed by a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of New England in 2018. At Valley Immediate Care, Evan is the lead PA and also serves as clinical preceptor to Pacific University physician assistant students that rotate at Valley Immediate Care. He was drawn to medicine while working for the Paul Newman’s Foundation, Painted Turtle summer camp for children with chronic or terminal illness. In his free time, Evan enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. He also likes being active outdoors by biking, skiing, playing lacrosse, basketball or soccer.

Caring for the Injured Workers is a complicated process. Our Occupational Health providers are dedicated to the health of the injured worker and understand the value for both the patient and employer: returning injured workers back to the job as soon as possible.

Brent Kordenbrock, ANP graduated in 2012 with a Masters of Science degree from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) as an adult nurse practitioner specializing in occupational and environmental health. Brent is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). He is also a Certified Medical Examiner for the Federal Motor Vehicle Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Brent’s interest in medicine started in childhood, and he enjoys assisting his clients in their road to recovery. His hobbies include hiking, skiing and all things automotive. He volunteers seasonally as a camp nurse.
Jonathan Nordheim, PA graduated from LeMoyne College with his Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies. He also has a Bachelor’s degree in both Landscape Architecture and Environmental Studies. While pursuing his degree in landscape architecture, Jon was home with his dad during summer, when his dad had a heart attack in front of him. He survived, yet that experience propelled Jon into the medical field by first taking a CPR class, then first aid, then he became an EMT, while still finishing his Landscaping Architecture Degree. Although he had a successful landscaping career for many years, he finally decided to pivot into being a Physician Assistant over 23 years ago. When Jon is not working he enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, fishing and rafting. Jon also loves to travel and see historically significant places around the world.

Our providers bring decades of combined experience in the fields of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. In addition to their depth of experience they bring a pleasant and caring bedside manner and a heart for their local community. Outside of their work here at VIC our providers continue to serve our community with their gracious and generous spirit through various organizations and activities.
Carol Wilder, MD received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin and her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin with a Family Medicine Residency. In 2007 she completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship from Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Sports Medicine attracted Dr. Wilder because it combined her love of sports and medicine. She finds it rewarding to help patients continue to stay active and be able to do the things they love.
Dr. Wilder has over 27 years of experience ranging from Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Room and Orthopedics. Dr. Wilder’s practice is primarily non operative orthopedics with a focus on Ultrasound Imaging and guided injections. She performs PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections and a new procedure, called Tenex, used for chronic tendonitis/tendinopathy. Dr Wilder takes care of non surgical fractures/casting and concussions, as well. When Dr. Wilder is not seeing patients, she is an outdoor enthusiast and you will find her with her husband and son mountain biking or snowboarding.
Miguel Barker, PA-C received his B.S. degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, in Portland, Oregon. Miguel is a Certified Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants and speaks fluent Spanish. Miguel has been providing Orthopedic services in Southern Oregon for over 19 years. When not at work, he teaches English to Spanish-Speaking Immigrants, he advocates for migrant farm worker rights and works with radical injustice and equality organizations based in the Rogue Valley. He also spends his spare time calculating how to avoid as many house chores as possible, mountain biking, going to the boxing gym with his daughters and salsa dancing with his wife.

Our Dermatology providers have decades of combined experience in the fields of Dermatology. They provide patients with the highest possible level of dermatological care.
Tim MacCurdy PA-C, has been a Physician Assistant for 24 years. He completed his undergraduate Bachelors of Science from UC Berkeley, and later completed his PA training through the UC Davis School of Medicine PA Program. He completed a Master’s Degree in Emergency Medicine through the University of Nebraska. Timothy is also board certified through the NCCPA.
He began his career in ‘tumor orthopedics’/general orthopedics, progressing into neurosurgery and other surgical subspecialties. He simultaneously spent a decade in emergency medicine before turning his attention to medical/surgical dermatology in 2007. The dermatologic specialty has provided a perfect match in which he combines his medical skills with his scientific knowledge, visual analysis, patient education, and insistence on best cosmetic outcomes.
In his spare time, Tim likes to read medical journals, gardening, cycling, and spending simple time with his family.
Elizabeth Hughes MD, has been a board-Certified Dermatologist for over 25 years. Her Education began with an undergraduate degree at Princeton University and Medical School at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Followed by a Dermatology residency, and then a faculty position at Stanford University. She has worked in a variety of dermatology practices in Seattle, from solo practitioner to working with very large multi specialty medical groups. Additionally, she has developed skin care products, participated in oversight of healthcare organizations, and has been a champion of physician wellness.
Chelseah Darling PA-C, is a licensed Physician Assistant who specializes in the field of dermatology. Chelseah graduated with her B.S from Michigan State University with high honors. She then obtained her masters of Science degree at Loma Linda University in Physician Assistant Studies.
Chelseah was drawn to medicine when she was younger and had health issues that were resolved with the care of a kind doctor, who later became her mentor. This experience solidified her passion to help others, like she was helped. She has worked over 13 years in medical dermatology and she specializes in skin cancer removal as well as treatment of various dermatologic skin conditions.
In her free time she enjoys exploring the outdoors hiking, skiing, biking, camping and being with her six year old son.
